Assistant Professor, Philosophy

David Grant, assistant professor in UF’s Department of Philosophy, works mainly on issues at the intersection of ethical theory and the ethics of artificial intelligence. His research focuses on concerns about fairness and transparency that arise when institutions use machine learning to make high stakes decisions. Prior to joining UF, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, where he rand the Embedded Ethics Teaching Lab, which is a program that is a joint effort between the Philosophy and Computer Science department in the development of ethics modules for courses across the computer science curriculum. He received his doctorate in philosophy from MIT in 2018.
